On this past Friday, April 24th, Raging Wolf III highlighted some of its most talented mixed martial arts fighters on Florida’s coast at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Matchmaker, Paul Andres Domenech scheduled twelve professional MMA bouts between the most talented fighters out of several teams including: American Top Team (ATT), Freestyle Fighting Academy (FFA), Jungle MMA, Team Crisis, Bears Den, Fighters Alley Florida, and Team Revolution.

Luigi Fioravanti, Rich Anntinito, Din Thomas

Din Thomas of ATT entertained the fans by conducting post fight interviews and commentary with the winners of each bout. Many other ATT comrades were there to support their team mates including Founder of ATT, Ricardo Libario, Gesias “JZ” Calvancante, Luigi Fioravanti, Rich Anntinito, Jason Chambers, Seth Petruzelli, Mike Lee, Tom Lawlor, and many more.

The evening consisted of 12 action packed professional matches, two being ISKA Championships bouts for the Co-Main and Main events.

The first bout of the evening was ATT’s Sam McCoy out of Boyton Beach, Florida defeating Byron McKenzie in the 1st round by submission.

Chris DeCaro quickly defeated Julian Rodman .37 seconds in the 1st round by way of a TKO.

Robert Rodriquez of FFA defeated Joe Stutzman of ATT in the 1st round by TKO due to failure to answer the bell from an injury.

Coconut Creek’s ATT fighter, Yun Villefort defeated Lindon Mitchel .18 in the 1st round by a vicious heel hook.

Victor Delgado fighting out of ATT in Hollandale, Florida defeated Eric Koveric 3.37 in the 2nd round by submission

FFA Giovanni Moljo defeated Eric Luke of ATT by split decision. Moljo dominated Luke on the ground for the entire first round. Luke was escaping submission attempts by Moljo in the second round but Luke managed to sneak in a good punch at bell sound. Round three was a classic Jiu Jitsu combat match with Moljo dominating the round by utilizing his talent in Jiu Jitsu and ground and pound.

Hyader Hassan of Miami, Florida ATT defeated Roy McDonald 3.19 in the 1st round by a brutal TKO victory.

Stepping back in the cage after four years, Marcos Avellon of FFA came back strong defeating Travis Bartlett of Team Revolution 3.54 in the 1st round by submission.

Christian Rios satisfied a victory over 155er Jason Jimenez in the 2nd round by way of a rear naked choke submission.

Steven Tamburo showed domination over David Zitnick winning each round with his brutal ground and pound and striking talent ending his fight with a unanimous decision victory.

Michael Bernhard was pronounced the new ISKA Welterweight Champion. Bernhard of FFA surprised many by knocking out popular fighter, Ailton Barbosa of ATT in just eleven seconds of the 1st round.

<!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->The ISKA Banthem Championship title went to ATT’s Marcos Da Matta, a 3rd degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, who has remained undefeated at a record now of 5-0-0. Matta defeated talented All-American wrestler, Ralph Acosta of Jungle MMA, by split decision. With lots of fans talking about this bout as controversial because of how equally matched the bouts were, there may be a rematch sometime soon in the future.

Acosta to fight 3rd degree Gracie black belt for ISKA Title
By: Angela Chustz-Parent

April 22, 2009

Professional mixed martial arts fighter, Ralph Acosta (4-2-0), will be challenging 3rd degree Carlson Gracie black belt, Marcos De Matta (4-0-0), Friday, April 24th for the ISKA Banthem Championship at one of the most packed MMA events in south Florida.

To prepare himself for the challenge, Acosta is training at Jungle MMA in Orlando, Florida with training partners, Seth Petruzelli, Mike Lee, and UFC's Tom “Filthy” Lawlor.

Acosta is one of the top MMA contenders in the state of Florida who is looking to break through to the big leagues by claiming the Championship title against undefeated Gracie Jiu Jitsu artist, Matta. Matta was the 1996 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Champion and has a  sick record of Jiu Jitsu accomplishments.

"I am extremely confident in my wrestling skills to say that I will be very happy to give him his first loss", says Acosta.

After high school Acosta received a collegiate scholarship to Upper Iowa University. Some of his wrestling accolades consist of two- time All-American, Northern Regional Champion, three-time National Champion, IIAC Conference Champion, and NSIC Wrestler of the Year.

He went on to coach college wrestling at the University of Minnesota and later advanced as head wrestling coach at another local community college.

Acosta walked into the American Top Team gym in Port St. Lucie, Florida during his high school years where he met up with Din Thomas who introduced him to Mixed Martial Arts and Jiu Jitsu. “After I met Din, I fell in love with MMA and decided to take my career to the next level and started competing in Jiu Jitsu tournaments and the next thing you knew I stopped coaching college wrestling and started competing in MMA.”

With 18 years of an extreme wrestling background behind him, Acosta feels confident that he will dictate where this fight will go with Matta. "I am hoping that after I receive my "W" I will earn my purple belt in Jiu Jitsu and will deserve the #1 135lb contender spot in Florida."

Ragin Wolf III has over ten action packed fights scheduled at the Fort Lauderdale Memorial Auditorium. Buy your tickets today at www.ticketmaster.com to see one of the most anticipated fights on Florida’s coast!
